During the year, many parents provide valuable assistance to teachers by helping in the classroom. Some of the activities parents become involved in include listening to students read, helping with writing activities, supporting literacy and numeracy groups, science, computers, excursions and special projects. Parents are encouraged to share their own strengths and skills in partnership with the school.
Parent helpers will be asked to sign a Department of Education and Communities Prohibited Person's Declaration. Before each classroom visit, parents are required to sign the Visitors' Book in the school office and wear the visitor's badge provided.
Parents will be provided with guidance as to how to support students in the classroom. Parents assisting within classrooms are required to keep strict confidentiality.
